How to user the free online context spell checker

Entering text and running check spelling

  • Make sure you are in edit mode. If not, press the "Edit Option" option.
  • Enter your text. Currently up to 1000 characters are supported. Remaining number of characters are presented in the bottom of the spell checker
  • Run Check Spelling
  • Wait till the Check Spelling process completes and until you get the reply: "Please make your corrections."

Ghotit color-coding language

  • Mispelled words are marked in red.
  • Suspected misused/out-of-context words are marked in blue..

Performing corrections

  • Perform corrections by right-clicking on the marked word.
  • Review and select the correct words. To help you select the correct word Ghotit provides you a sub-menu with the definition of each candidate words. The selection of the correct word is performed in the sub-menu by selecting the option "Select candidate word".
  • Once your have corrected/ignored/marked as no-suggestions-are-relevant or corrected via word edit option all the marked words, run the spellchecker again to get additional Ghotit recommendations.
  • Always choose no-suggestions-are-relevant, when Ghotit does not provide appropriate candidates. Next iteration may bring you the right correction candidate. Repeat the process till Ghotit states that it is done and has no more recommendations to provide.

Copying Text

Press "Edit Text" to enter "Edit" mode so that you can copy and apply the corrected text.

Ghotit Text-to-Speech ("TALK") for internet explorer (Optional feature)

  • Make sure the Ghotit Text-to-Speech plug-in is installed. Install now
  • Press the "Talk" button to have Ghotit start talking. Ghotit will read out loud the entered text.
  • During the correction process, Ghotit will read out loud any menu and sub-menu options selected.
  • Press the "Talk" button to stop Ghotit talking.
  • Select the Talk "Settings" option to customize Ghotit Text-to-Speech options. This includes defining a male/female voice; with American/British accent as well as the volume and speed of the speaker.

Tips

Note, that there is more value in entering phrases into a context-sensitive spell checher.
